Modeled on cognitive behavior therapy techniques, Waypoint’s programs provide effective, scalable, standardized, and measurable self-help solutions for patients. Our product portfolio currently includes Thrive for depression and BT Steps for obsessive compulsive disorder.
Unlike other behavioral health resources that simply provide static content or a new patient-clinician communication channel, our programs are both personalized and scalable. Hundreds of short, crisp video segments explain CBT concepts, demonstrate skills, and provide feedback and recommendations. Interactive tools encourage members to practice their new skills and allow Thrive to build a profile for each member. Algorithms leverage data to dynamically personalize each member’s experience, dynamically adapting the program based on his or her successes, setbacks, and preferences. The more a member uses a program, the more personalized his or her experience becomes. Our programs are accessible through browser or mobile app.
Behind the scenes, our proprietary technology platform empowers authorized non-technical personnel to view, modify, and expand almost every aspect of a program’s curriculum – for example, adding new screens to a program, adding input elements (e.g. a questionnaire) and output elements (e.g. a video) to each new screen, storing and manipulating user data, and adding branching logic and navigational elements that integrate each new page into the rest of the program. The result is that clinical and UX experts get more precise control over the curriculum, engineers can redeploy to other tasks, and innovation accelerates. The rapid configurability of our products platform will allow Waypoint to quickly develop new programs as customer needs change.
About Cognitive Behavior Therapy
Waypoint’s programs are based on cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), a validated, pragmatic form of psychotherapy that teaches skills to manage the symptoms of mental disorders. Waypoint’s programs extend the benefits of CBT by making those techniques available in a standardized, measurable, scalable format.
Designed in collaboration with expert psychiatrists and psychologists, Waypoint’s programs are fully automated. That is, the entire course of therapy can be delivered without human intervention – the patient does not need to chat, email, or speak with a clinician, although Waypoint encourages clients to augment its programs with support from a case manager or clinician. Our programs use a combination of educational information (text, diagrams, and videos), Q&A, interactive tools, and branching logic based on best clinical practices to help the patient create a customized self-management plan.
